HOMESCHOOLING enrollment options
A Little History: "Homeschooling" was practiced in the state of Florida only in private schools until 1985, then the Florida legislature invited students to register publicly with the state without requiring enrollment in a school. Still, many private schools remained open for enrollment to continue this "parent directed" model with the added benefits of privacy and one-on-one support.
Two Choices to Enroll in Homeschooling
Choice # 1. Register with Family Tree Private School while enrolled with your local public school district. Parents can choose to register with us for the added support, services and documentation Family Tree Private School provides. Enrolling with the district is free, but there are fees for registering with Family Tree. When registering with Family Tree Private School you stay enrolled with the district and do not enroll in our school (because you cannot be enrolled in two places at the same time). The benefits you receive include, comprehensive one-on-one support and professional guidance for curriculum and testing choices, transcripts, report cards and a homeschool diploma.
Choice #2. Enroll in Family Tree Private School as a private school student. Family Tree Private School students who enroll in our school are not considered "homeschoolers" but are considered 100% private school students for all intents and purposes of the law. Our students, whether registered or enrolled have the same options to enjoy local homeschool support groups and activities and receive comprehensive one-on-one support and professional guidance for curriculum and testing choices, transcripts, report cards and a diploma.
